What matters when you specify pendants
Why pendants are quoted separately from chains
It is the trade convention, and it exists for a commercial reason: pendants and chains sell at different rates, wear out at different rates and carry different margins. A retailer who buys them separately can pair a fast-moving pendant with the chain length their market actually wants, rather than accepting whatever came in the box.
Solitaire pendants
A single certified stone on a fine chain — the highest-volume pendant in fine jewellery. Bezel, four-prong and floating settings, with the stone size driving both the price point and the chain gauge needed to carry it without sagging.
Halo and cluster pendants
Halo builds deliver visual carat weight at an accessible cost, and cluster and illusion settings push that further. Both need melee matched to the centre or the effect collapses under a loupe — and your customer will use their phone camera as a loupe.
Shaped and symbolic pendants
Crosses, hearts, initials and custom shapes. Crosses in particular are a steady repeat-order line in US wholesale and worth carrying in both diamond-set and plain metal at multiple sizes.
Bails and construction
The bail is where a pendant fails. We specify bail aperture to the chain gauge you are pairing it with, and build hidden bails where the design calls for the pendant to sit flush. Tell us the chain you intend to sell it on and we build to it.
Sold with or without chain
We supply pendants loose for retailers who stock their own chain, or paired and packaged as a finished piece. Both are quoted line by line so you can see exactly what the chain is adding to your cost.
